Spotted Wild — Privacy Policy
Spotted Wild is a wildlife photography portal that allows you to upload, store and share photos of animals and nature. By creating an account you agree to the following terms.
What data we collect
We collect your username, email address and password (stored as a secure hash). Photos you upload may contain GPS coordinates, camera model and date metadata extracted from the image file. We store this information to provide the service.
How we use your data
Your data is used solely to operate Spotted Wild. Photos you mark as public are visible to other users. Photos you mark as private are visible only to you. We use the Anthropic Claude API to automatically analyse your photos for species identification — your images are sent to Anthropic's servers for this purpose and are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
Your rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data permanently from your Profile settings. All your photos, notes, GPS data and account information will be immediately and permanently removed from our servers when you delete your account.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account all personal data is deleted immediately. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (Anthropic API for AI analysis, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim for location lookup).
Cookies
Spotted Wild uses localStorage to store your session token locally on your device. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
